My favourite spot there admiring the nature and the birds

Hiking, cycling always worth to stop there

just a short detour off the route but worth the stop. quite stunning - and very noisy 😁

The route is blocked at 24km point near the A46 where a large gate blocks public access.

Just downstream of Elvaston Castle, the River Derwent flows over a wide, stepped weir with broad impressive cascades. The surrounding wetlands are rich in wildlife, with chances to spot kingfishers, ducks, and even leaping salmon when conditions are right.

Great area to chill out while biking, walking... canoeing, etc...

Such a lovely spot, with a choice of some welcome refreshments from the multiple establishments dotted around the lock.

Here you are standing on a beautiful bridge with a pittoresque view to the river Trent and from here you also can have a look into the City Ground Stadium, hom eof Nottingham Forest F.C.

It's beautiful to ride along the river here. Close to the city and still exhales a very calm mood.

Love this place. On both sides! Beeston side offers a café on the lock (+ Marina Club a little further down). Clifton side offers beautiful woodlands nearby.

Awesome old train track. Very relaxing to ride (unless you go at it). Mind the pedestrians please.

Cycled 1st March. After the towpath and cycle route 6 diverge, the canalside path towards shardlow was muddy in places, uncyclable in one place. Recommended for summer or extended dry periods.

The Trent & Mersey Canal winds through the North Midlands, offering stunning views of the Cheshire Plain and a peaceful green corridor through Stoke-on-Trent. It spans 93 miles and is perfect for cycling or walking, with routes through the charming countryside of Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire.

Cranfleet is a short navigational cut off the River Trent. There is a lock here to allow boats to pass.

Rather impressive (probably more so when there's been some rain!) weir on the Derwent river - worth a stop 🚵‍♂️👍
