I took my mountain bike up from Verrand (a hamlet above Courmayeur), descended to Dolonne, and then ascended from Dolonne along the ski slope to Plan Checrouit, WITHOUT taking the cable cars. The climb is challenging and not easy. I used a turbo on some of the steeper sections. The surface is very uneven, making the descent to Dolonne along the same road more difficult. I preferred to continue up the ski slopes until I reached the Zerotta cable car station, then descended towards Val Veny. Be careful, as the GPS navigation systems provide routes towards Val Veny that are unfeasible due to large fallen trees in the path.

Cycle path that connects Morgex to La Salle within the Marais Nature Reserve. The route follows a stretch of Dora Baltea crossing its alluvial plain, where there are lakes, marshes and hygrophilous woods. It is almost 4 kilometers long and allows you to avoid the Aosta state road which can be busy at peak times.

There is also a no entry sign here and behind it a bicycle route sign. So it seems to only apply to cars, the police were behind the sign and warned parked vehicles. I rode past on my bike unmolested.

The Monte Bianco refuge is one of the many refuges along the TMB circuit and is also open during the winter. Since 1925, Val Veny has hosted a large campsite every summer with important mountaineers of the time. In 1952 a fire destroyed the camping equipment. However, the following year the ruins of the burnt hut were renovated and thus the Monte Bianco refuge was born, inaugurated in July 1953, in the name of this enduring tradition.
