This is great for high-speed cruising.

It would be a spectacular route but unfortunately lately, given the adverse weather, it is practically impassable along certain sections, and above all both the bridges and the fords are missing, which are now impassable. A big shame!

Beautiful simple roads for mtb and gravel, the city side winds up to the Golf Club then goes up on asphalt, the city side winds up to Bereguardo all on a dirt road along the river

According to legend, some pilgrims wanted to attend midnight mass in the city on Christmas Eve in 999, but due to the thick fog their boats could not cross the river. Suddenly, a man dressed in red arrived and promised that he would immediately build a bridge in exchange for the first soul to cross the bridge. The man in red was the devil, and only the Archangel Michael, who had come from the nearby church, recognized him. Michael pretended to agree to the deal, but once the bridge was built, a goat crossed it first. The bridge is therefore also known as the Ponte del Diavolo ("Devil's Bridge").

The covered bridge has its origins in Roman times. The current one was constructed in the 14th century and covered in 1583. Upstream of the bridge you can still see pillars of the original bridge, reconstructed after the Second World War. A memorial stone on the bridge tells that Albert Einstein stayed in Pavia for several months and loved the place.

Rebuilt in the mid-fourteenth century to replace the old Roman bridge (whose pillars can still be seen), it connects the historic center of the city with the picturesque medieval village beyond the Ticino, a traditional town of washerwomen, gravel diggers and fishermen. Its feature, which makes it the evocative symbol of Pavia, is its roofing, commissioned by Galeazzo II Visconti in the aftermath of the conquest of the city, and the presence of an eighteenth-century chapel, dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk. Bombed in World War II, the bridge was rebuilt in the early 1950s.

The Bereguardo pontoon bridge was built for the first time in 1347 at the behest of the Visconti family. Since then it has always been rebuilt following the same technique where the vehicle surface rests on barges. This technique allows the bridge to adapt to the river's water flows by following its level. The current barges are made of concrete and steel and were positioned in 1913. Today the Bereguardo bridge remains one of the most characteristic views of this area, nevertheless its future is uncertain. Due to the drought, the barges very often rest on the bottom of the Ticino, making the vehicle surface irregular and difficult to cross.

The Covered Bridge connects the historic center of Pavia to Borgo Ticino. The first bridge at this point was built by order of Emperor Augustus and was replaced in the 14th century by a covered bridge. Due to the damage suffered by the Allied bombings during the Second World War, one of the arches of the fourteenth-century bridge collapsed and it was decided to demolish the entire structure. The new bridge was inaugurated in 1951; on the entrance portal on the city side, in memory of past events, a plaque was placed reading: "On the ancient passage of the cerulean Ticino, in the image of the ancient Covered Bridge, demolished by the fury of war, the Italian Republic rebuilt it".

The Sanctuary was built at the end of the 1500s by the Bonacossa family. Inside it is still possible to admire the original fresco of the ancient chapel.

The Covered Bridge, also known as Ponte Vecchio, crosses the Ticino River and connects the historic center of Pavia with the characteristic Borgo Ticino district, originally located outside the peripheral walls of the city. The neighborhood was traditionally inhabited by washermen, scree workers and fishermen. The bridge, symbol of Pavia, is particular, with its five arches, entirely covered by a structure, and equipped with two portals at its ends. Also, there is a small chapel in the middle of the bridge. The current Ponte Coperto was built between 1949 and 1951 and reflects the characteristics of the ancient Ponte Coperto dating back to the 14th century, which in turn had replaced the ancient Roman bridge (whose columns are still visible today).

From the website of the Municipality of Travacò Siccomario: The sanctuary of Santa Maria del Novello stands in the floodplain area next to the left bank of the Po. The river flows a few hundred meters away. Popular tradition wants it to protect from the floods of the Great River. The construction, built on an ancient chapel and carried out by the Bonacossa family, dates back to the end of the 1500s. Inside the sanctuary it is still possible to admire the original fresco of the ancient chapel. In a state of ruin at the end of the 1800s, the building was recovered in 1922 and since then its rebirth has been celebrated on the last Sunday of August.
