Mining activity in the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park has left several examples of landscapes shaped by the hand of man. The Teuler Mines were exploited by Germans, followed by the companies Andévalo Minero and Minas del Teuler. Even today you can see the ruins of an old English colonial mansion, built in its time by the Germans, and which was used to house the engineers who worked in the mine. La Umbría is located in a natural paradise within the Sierra de Aracena in a part of the mountains where the sun barely shines, hence the name 'La Umbría'.
