The golden angel symbolizes Europe. In the market square of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a monument to the fallen of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 once stood – a symbol of remembrance and commemoration. After the Second World War, however, it was removed. Today, thanks to the support of many donors, a new monument shines in the same spot, telling the story of Europe. It connects past and future, tradition and new beginnings. Ceremonially inaugurated on April 16, 2025, it now stands as a symbol of unity and hope for future generations.

The Petershain church was built in the 16th or 17th century; the State Office for Monument Preservation in Saxony dates the construction of the church to 1628. In the second half of the 17th century, the interior of the building was redesigned, and in 1822 the building was extended to the west. The roof turret also dates from this period. The church in Kosel was built in several steps. The first shotwood church, mentioned in documents in 1495, was expanded in 1550 and partially renovated in 1648. From 1696 to 1717 the older shotwood building was replaced by a new building and completed with a roof tower in 1778. In 1874 the chancel was enlarged. In 1913 and 1953-56, structural changes were made to the church as part of renovation work. Further restorations in 1992, 1994, 2012 and 2014 served to preserve the building and its furnishings.
