The Kostianvirta river connects lakes Pälkänevesi and Mallasvesi and was formed after a natural flood in 1604. It is historically notable as the site of the Battle of Kostianvirta in 1713 during the Great Northern War.

The red-painted wooden observation tower of the Vehoniemenharju nature reserve was built in 1927. It stands on a wooded ridge that rises up to 60 meters above the water level. Next to it is the interesting Vehoniemi Automobile Museum.

A beautiful stone church with a solitary square tower. The original church was built between approximately 1480 and 1510. Unfortunately, most of it burned down in 1929. The wooden upper part of the bell tower built in 1766 was also destroyed. After the fire, the church was rebuilt to its original medieval size according to plans by the architect Kauno S. Kallio.
