Nothing especially tricky or difficult, as long as you have vaguely "gravel" tyres you'll be fine. Stunning views along the way, I prefer the heading west views but it is pretty both ways.

This is a serene lake located in the Conwy Valley surrounded by forested hills and the rugged landscape of Snowdonia. There's a cafe and fishery further south along the lake which is a lovely place to stop and refuel.

Fantastic views of the lake

Llyn Ogwen is a ribbon lake in north-west Wales. It lies alongside the A5 road between two mountain ranges of Snowdonia, the Carneddau and the Glyderau.

Llyn Crafnant is a lake that lies in a valley in Wales where the northern edge of the Gwydir Forest meets the lower slopes of the Carneddau mountains and, more specifically, the ridge of Cefn Cyfarwydd. The head of the valley offers a profile of crags which are silhouetted at sunset. The Forest Park guide (2002) states that "the (view along Llyn Crafnant) is one of the most breathtaking views in all Snowdonia" Crafnant takes its name from “craf”, an old Welsh word for garlic, and “nant”, a stream or valley. Many visitors walk there from the village or from the neighbouring lake of Llyn Geirionydd, which runs parallel to it, but a mile distant, the two being separated by Mynydd Deulyn – “mountain of the two lakes”. The lake can also be reached on foot from Capel Curig.

A cosy small tearoom in Capel Curig. Incredible cakes, good coffee and light meals served by friendly staff. The garden outside is beautiful and full of bee friendly plants.

Llyn Geirionydd is a natural lake in the southern Carneddau or northeast Snowdonia. It isn't used for water or fish as the surrounding metal mining (no longer in use) have polluted the lake so there is almost no life in it. the road surface isn't very good but it's very pretty so worth the ride if you don't mind a reduction in your average pace.

The A5 along the Ogwen valley is a great road to cycle along although it can be quite busy. Cafe and toilets at Ogwen cottage at the western end of Llyn Ogwen managed by the National Park.

One of several picturesque lakes found in the Gwydyr Forest, Lynn Geirionydd is far removed today from its industrial past. Look closely and you'll see mining relics of the area's history. A road runs down the eastern shore of the lake, connected to the ancient road, Sarn Helen.

This stunning lake is surprisingly close to the bustling village of Betws-y-Coed, yet has a remarkably serene feel to it. The long, narrow lake is surrounded by the thick Gwydyr Forest, with a walking path down the eastern shore. A gravel fire road is perfect for cycling nearby, touching the shore at the southern end where you'll find the dam.
