The region is characterized by the expansive water body of the reservoir itself, set against the dramatic northern scarp of the Moorfoot Hills. The landscape features a mix of rough grassland, moorland, and well-managed farmland, often enclosed by stone walls, alongside scenic woodlands and wetlands fringing the reservoir. This provides a diverse riding experience with both unpaved paths and quiet country lanes.

I had my head torch which only just let me see through the pitch blackness. I wouldn't want to come through here late at night as it's very creepy.
