We only knew Plau am See by name before and stopped there for two days on our way back from the Baltic Sea. It's a very beautiful area. The cycling and hiking trails are well-developed. Of course, it's not very busy in February. Perfect for relaxing hikes! 👍

Malchow Monastery lies opposite the town, on the southern shore of the lake. It was originally a Magdalene convent, which, after its initial founding in Röbel before 1274, became a Cistercian convent in 1295 and found its permanent home here. Like other women's monasteries in Mecklenburg, it was not completely dissolved by the Reformation but transformed into a Protestant women's foundation.
