1월 11, 2026, Landstrasse mit Sicht auf Biederthal
I can only agree with Mattia: it's a short stretch of road through fields, but otherwise completely unspectacular, not even worth a tip...

Biederthal is often reached by car from Basel / the Birstal valley, but this point here is nothing special in itself.

There are better places to admire the Birs: It's always quite busy and there's heavy traffic here. Therefore, I recommend: Take a look as you drive by and move on.

12월 28, 2025, Schloss Angenstein
The medieval Angenstein Castle belongs to the Canton of Basel-Stadt and is not open to the public. However, the castle can be viewed quite well from the outside, and rooms can be rented for events. The name means 'narrow stone' and comes from the narrow passageway on the site. Throughout its history, it has been burned down, destroyed, and rebuilt many times. The last fire occurred in 1984. The castle also houses rental apartments, and below it lies the Angenstein fortification – a military historical monument of national importance. Bunkers from the Second World War are visible; the painted facades were only added in the 1960s. The Muggenberg bunker complex is visible opposite.

8월 10, 2025, Blick zum Farnsberg
The view is dominated on the right by the Farnsberg hill, with the bright, light-colored ruins of Farnsburg Castle perched on its upper slope, visible from afar. A visit to the ruins is highly recommended. From up here, the view sweeps down to the village of Hemmiken and further into the Jura Mountains.

4월 9, 2025, Burg Rotberg
Rotberg Castle is located on the recently signposted Castle Magic Route 114 and is worth every visit, especially for an overnight stay. Although the castle is a Swiss youth hostel, it can also be rented privately: for weddings, anniversaries, etc. The entire castle is also available with or without catering. It is closed during the winter months. The shared rooms have been recently renovated. For only two or a few people, it is best to contact the castle directly; the tower room for two, for example, is not listed online.

12월 19, 2024, Rheinfelden Town Hall
Rheinfelden Town Hall The Town Hall is a hidden gem full of history. It is located in the town hall and can be reached via the Gothic staircase in the inner courtyard. Inside, magnificent portraits of the Habsburg rulers and coats of arms await. Anyone who wants to get married in Rheinfelden can celebrate their civil wedding here. Cultural asset of regional importance. On the night of February 11, 1531, the old town hall in Rheinfelden fell victim to a fire. Shortly afterwards, a new building was built using the medieval tower that had been spared from the fire. This late Gothic building forms the core of today's town hall. Coat of arms & portraits of the rulers. The large council chamber was decorated on the north and south sides with coats of arms from the Ropstein workshop in Freiburg im Breisgau. 12월 19, 2024, Rheinfelden Town Hall
Rheinfelden Town Hall Centrally located, the town hall with its impressive baroque facade, massive tower and beautiful courtyard stands in the middle of Rheinfelden's old town. An Austrian coat of arms on a Swiss town hall? After the town hall burned down in 1531, it was rebuilt. The tower with its crenellated crown dates back to the Zähringer period. The baroque facade from the 18th century shows the coats of arms of Austria, the county of Hauenstein, Laufenburg, Säckingen, Rheinfelden, and the Truchsessen family. Rheinfelden belonged to the Habsburgs and thus to Austria for almost 1000 years. Today, the entire city administration is located in the historic building. Rudolf: The King of Rheinfelden. When you enter through the gate on the left, there is a cast of the gravestone of Rudolf von Rheinfelden († 1080). The former court and market arcades are also here.
