Glentrool area is known for its legends of stone throwing giants. The Giant Axe Head overlooks Loch Dee. It closely resembles actual neolithic stone axes and has runic text throughout.

Nice way to cycle to the Big Water of Fleet Viaduct. Although one of the photo's, suggest there is some tarmac, we didn't found it. It's a really nice gravel segment, with at some parts bigger stones, and at some parts smoother gravel.

Sure this was a stunning view but I was too busy chewing my stem pushing full gas to make the most of it.

Beautiful Mill on the Fleet is a restored 18th-century cotton mill. The mill has been transformed into a large exhibition centre open to the public and has a brilliant cafe on site with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating next to the river.

The 7 Stanes are MTB trail areas in the south of Scotland. Each one has a 'stane' (stone) and it's well worth seeking them all out. A good array of levels from red runs (advanced) to blue (beginner). More info here - https://forestryandland.gov.scot/visit/activities/mountain-biking/7stanes

Paved climb/descent from/to Gatehouse with a lovely view of Loch Whinyeon to one side.

Disused single-track viaduct constructed of granite that opened in 1861. 900 feet long, 21 meters tall with 20 arches in total. Dominates the skyline around the area.

Fantastic place to start/end a ride. Loads of trails in the vicinity and a good coffee shop at the centre. Everything you need for a good day out.

Very quiet road with amazing views on all sides. A great ride!
