The historic North Bar in Beverley

The old railway station building was derelict until 1987 - now a private residence and looks spectacular. Few information boards in the open area in front of the building.

Before the Holderness Drain was constructed in the late 18th century, the landscape was a vast, watery marsh. The drain replaced a more natural watercourse that functioned as a key transport route through the area and was ultimately created to reclaim this land for agriculture by managing flood risk.

Easy walk

Very rideable section, no rust. Hard pan in a dry spell.

Archetypal English village with its large village green surrounded by pretty stone houses and two pubs. The open beck runs in front of the houses in Eastgate, each with their own private bridge. The banks of the stream are planted with flowers. Bank side ride of River Idle to Tiln. Grassed hard pan wheel tracks in the summer. Gates to lift over at beginning and end.

Good variety of surfaces. Roe Lane is all water pits troughs and puddles and should be avoided in the wet yet readily rideable in the dry.
