The monastery is one of the oldest on Rhodes, dating back to the early Middle Ages. It was built by the father of a Byzantine princess who recovered from a fatal illness and subsequently converted to Christianity. Moni Thari is particularly known for its close association with the veneration of Saint Michael and for having served as an important spiritual center for centuries. It is still inhabited by monks today, who preserve the site and warmly welcome visitors.

It was probably built for tourism in the 1970s. Events, music concerts, volleyball tournaments, and much more were held there. Unfortunately, it's now a lost place, but it's still worth a look.

The menu is nothing unusual these days. The food is presented with photos. It's mostly the usual dishes. Lemon chicken wasn't available anywhere else. It was also very tasty and one of the few exceptions.

The road was closed 200 meters from here on the way uphill , it was some road works ... Just check on Google to be sure that's its open 😉

The fire in 2023 left the landscape very barren. The range is being abandoned. The owners are retiring. Most of the horses have been sold.
