Walhalla is the oldest example of a group of monumental memorial buildings in Germany, along with Ludwig's Hall of Liberation, the Niederwald Monument near Rüdesheim am Rhein, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, the Kyffhäuser Monument, the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, the Hermann Monument near Detmold, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial at the Porta Westfalica, and the Berlin Victory Column.
