Even though the ground is loose, you can still ride well. There are always little rest stops along the canal – a good thing, especially at 38°C.

In April 2025, we had trouble following the route in the Sachsenwald forest. The navigation system kept saying right. There was nothing there. Then we turned around. Right. Turn around. No path in sight, but right. We cursed a lot.

The path along the canal is easy to navigate, although some of the gravel is also manageable. It gives you a good jolt. Most importantly, you can observe and see many birds.

2월 24, 2025, Rastplatz an der Seilzugfähre Siebeneichen
This is the only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. It connects the communities of Siebeneichen and Fitzen. Even if you don't actually have to cross to the other side, the crossing is worth it for the experience alone. Especially since the ferry is free, but a donation is requested. Beautiful route behind Trittau, the signage could be improved. Mainly sandy path, with some interlocking stone in between. Not suitable for skating.

1월 29, 2025, Trittau–Bad Oldesloe Rail Trail
Typical of such old railway lines, the route impresses with its many straight sections and the fact that there are hardly any inclines to overcome. You are also not affected by car traffic except at the points where you cross roads. The only section that runs parallel to a country road for about 3 km (between Sprenge and Mollhagen) is apparently currently being expanded (as of the end of 2024). All in all, a very scenic connection between Trittau and Bad Oldesloe. However, I recommend that everyone does not forget their repair kit, as the road surface with its small, sharp stones can very quickly lead to flat tires unless you have puncture-proof models. Accordingly, you hardly see any racing cyclists there.

The old brewery and distillery dates back to 1633. Today it is a private residence. The carving above the door is particularly worth seeing.

Beautiful cycle path on the old railway line through a forest that is beautiful in every season

Not so good for cycling because of the cobblestones. But the route is not that long and the old buildings are definitely worth the slow ride or pushing.
