Start in the southeastern district of Neumühle and enjoy the peaceful lakeside walk, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The shoreline offers varied, mostly wooded and sometimes steep sections, especially on the northern shore in the Friedrichsthal Forest.

When the subtle lighting of the bridge structure reflects in the water of Ostdorfer Lake at dusk, its elegant curve comes into its own. In 2021, the new, impressive cycle bridge between the two peninsulas of Krösnitz and Dwang was officially inaugurated. The steel structure has a total length of 92 meters. The bridge completes the 1.2-kilometer-long new cycle path from southern Dwang to the Krösnitz peninsula. "The nature-oriented tourist cycle route runs on municipal land directly along the shores of Lake Ostorf and Lake Faulen. With unobstructed views of both lakes and the city skyline, it offers a strong attraction for cyclists and pedestrians. The Faule See is located in the "Schwerin Lake District" nature reserve. The dammed lake, which is considered weakly polytrophic, covers 50 hectares, and its shoreline is 4,052 meters long. The Faule See is located southwest of Lake Schwerin. The shores are partly wooded and part of a public park, making it ideal for a pleasant bike ride.
