The panoramic trail leads from Villenstrasse Süd to Johannishöhe. In the foreground, the view sweeps over the Höfner Church and the Rasso Church in Grafrath, the Unteralting Church, the onion dome of St. Valentin in Kottgeisering, and in the background, the Andechs Monastery Church on the "Holy Mountain" above Herrsching. A few kilometers north of Lake Ammersee, on the edge of the Ampermoos nature reserve, lies the monastery and pilgrimage church of St. Rasso. The pilgrimage to Grafrath to the tomb of St. Rasso enjoyed supra-regional significance during its heyday in the 15th to 18th centuries. People set out to seek St. Rasso's intercession for a personal matter. The motivations of 21st-century pilgrims who set out on this journey are different. Their goal is to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a limited period of time, to find peace and self-reflection, to discover new sources of strength along the way, and to reflect on what is essential.
