The Upper Gate in Villingen is the highest gate tower in the city and an important part of the historic city wall12. It was first mentioned in documents in 1336 and secured access from the north2. The tower has a green clock face and is younger than the other two still standing gates in the east (Bickentor) and west (Riettor)23. On the Schlempenweg you find yourself in the middle of the wonderful hilly landscape of the Black Forest. You cycle up and down through forests and across meadows and always have wonderful views near and far.

Not only is the view down to the village of Rohrbach, which has a population of 400 and is particularly notable for the village church, but the whole area around you is also charming. It's really beautiful here in the Black Forest.
