Rahden Castle ruins, once a moated castle with a mighty moat, look back on over 570 years of history, and their remaining walls hint at the former grandeur of the complex. Here you can discover parts of the former castle as well as the well-preserved coat of arms of the von dem Bussche family, who played a significant role in the late 14th century. Nestled in the charming landscape of the Minden-Lübbecke district, the historic ruins invite you to a fascinating break amidst nature and the past.

The ascent on the south side is very steep and long. Once you reach the top, however, you can enjoy the fantastic panoramic view.

A charming little town with several ice cream parlors and cafes, and a large church square. Ideal for a break with a view. The Rahden railway depot also invites visitors to a museum tour.

In Hille, the Königsmühle Auf der Höchte is a historic windmill with deep regional roots. Built in 1733 by the Volkening family, it is a Dutch windmill with right-handed sails and a weather rose. The original equipment included two millstones, and much of the internal mechanism has been preserved. Located at Höchte 10 in 32479 Hille, the mill is notable for its conical stone tower and brick upper structure. It was upgraded with an additional millstone and a motor drive in the early 20th century, but has been out of service since 1956. Today, it belongs to the Heinrich von Behren family.
