Hikers are welcome guests at the Krausberghütte, located on the mountain of the same name above Dernau, just a stone's throw from the Krausberg Tower (if interested, see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/72123). It is run by the local chapter of the Eifel Association – a volunteer organization. Those planning a stop here should check the opening hours beforehand.

A real gem awaits hikers and walkers along the Ahr: the chapel dedicated to Saint Hubertus - known above all as the patron saint of hunters - cannot be entered by visitors, but the openings to the right and left of the door, protected by sturdy grilles, offer a glimpse that should not be missed! The central ceiling fresco depicts the Lamb of God from the Apocalypse, lying on the book with the seven seals that John describes in his "Revelation" (the last book of the New Testament).

It's a shame that the path isn't longer. Great surface, wide path and very beautiful surroundings with a stream, rocks and meadows. A great alternative to the country road.

St. Hubertus Chapel in Hönningen. The chapel was badly damaged in the Ahr flood on July 14/15, 2021. The chapel is a gift from the Johanniter Commandery and was consecrated in 1610. It was restored in 1827 and repaired again in 1912. It was last renovated in 1989. The bell dates from 1639.
