The picturesque valley of the Hanfbach is beautiful at any time of year. Lead ore and sphalerite were mined here in the past. Its name has nothing to do with hemp, but probably means "sounding stream". It has a steep gradient and can swell with a lot of noise after rain. It flows into the Sieg near Hennef, which takes its name from it.
