The Reutberg offers a sweeping view of Mellrichstadt and the surrounding area, extending into the Rhön Mountains. This hill thus had a special significance even 500 years ago. A watchtower likely stood there, or at least nearby. A kind of signal station that served as a military defense for the town of Mellrichstadt. Anyone who visits the field of stelae will clearly understand the significance of the site. Many already do. The hill has become a popular destination for walkers, hikers, and cyclists.
