Great route

From the Lüderich hill, which rises to around 260 meters, the view stretches far across the Bergisches Land region. To the west, the landscape opens up towards the Cologne Lowland, where the hills gradually give way to flatter terrain. On clear days, you can even see the Cologne Cathedral. Traces of the mining that once took place around the Lüderich are still visible.

At the beginning of August, summer heather blooms in Pioneer Basin II. Pioneers never practiced here. The name probably originates from the fact that the so-called pioneer plants settled there after the unauthorized exploitation of the gravel deposits. The numbering refers to the order in which the three gravel pits were formed.

Gravel route. Not for road bikes. But there's plenty to see on both sides.

The hut is simple but charming, with a covered seating area that offers shelter from the rain and invites you to linger.

The hut is ideal for a short break – especially on longer circular tours through the eastern part of the Königsforst.

The summit is located in a quiet, wooded area and is rather unspectacularly marked – but there is a bench for a short break, and the surroundings invite you to linger.
