The ruins lie above the Barbarossa Cave. All that remains of the castle are a single, large wall fragment of the residential tower and the remains of a cistern. The access is signposted and leads via a trail.

The castle chapel was renovated in 2000 with funding from the German Foundation for Monument Protection.

Great vantage point, all that remains of the castle is a three by 2 meter piece of wall.

Najaaaaaaaaaaa you only see a piece of wall. The view is great. But the way up there is not easy. I had to use trekking poles to get down.

Today there are only ruins of the Arnsburg. The foundation walls of the keep, palace and ring walls are still recognizable. In addition, 3 pointed arcades of a farm building have been preserved. A cellar staircase was reconstructed, which leads to a 6 x 13 m barrel-vaulted cellar.

The Falkenburg was neither particularly representative nor particularly well-fortified, it was simply functional. The castle complex almost completely filled the small limestone plateau. The castle complex was square in plan and was surrounded by a 1.5 meter thick ring wall, into which the keep measuring around 4 x 5 meters was integrated. It is fair to say that the Falkenburg was quite tiny for a castle. A built-up usable area of about 31 square meters and a courtyard area of 18 square meters were measured. Today only the remains of the ring wall and the residential tower bear witness to the former robber baron's castle. The view up here is top notch!
