Very attractive, tranquil place at the end of the Northern Black Forest:

OK for a spontaneous evening tour. It was definitely fun.

...now it's been asphalted for a few years, well - that's fine too.

Wonderful view in clear weather

Great half-timbered house! Always nice to see such old buildings in good condition and to see that our ancestors built with substance.

Observation platforms already have a certain tradition at this location. The first tower was built here in 1885 and had to be closed to visitors again just 30 years later. The structure threatened to collapse. In 1926, a second attempt was made: A massive substructure was supposed to fix it. But this structure was not prepared for the destructive power of the Second World War. The third attempt was made in the golden 1950s. The Schwanner Warte in its current form was built 13 meters high and with a stable pyramid roof, and has since then defied the Black Forest weather and all other adversities. The observation platform offers fantastic views of the Vosges and as far as Speyer Cathedral - provided the weather is good and the air is clear.

The public water supply in the two districts of Bilfingen and Ersingen came from private or public wells until the water supply networks with raised tanks were built in 1909. After that, the drinking water came from the "Kopfbrunnenquelle" in the Ispringer district. This has not been used for drinking water supply since 1953 because it no longer had much water and the water was contaminated with germs. The "Oberste Wiesenquelle" in Ersingen took its place. In Bilfingen, the "Röschwiesenquelle" (not far from today's Aldi market) was later developed. It now only serves as an emergency water supply.
