The Upper Gate, Weißenhorn's landmark, is a remnant of the town's medieval fortifications. The four-sided gate tower was probably built around 1480; the outer gate and the round towers on the sides were added later. Today, the gate serves as a picturesque subject for photographs.

The first water supply for the upper town was once the town stream, an open watercourse, comparable to the so-called "Bächle" (little streams) that still crisscross Freiburg im Breisgau today. As homeowners gradually dug their own wells or drew water from the piped fountains in the market square, the stream was dammed here to create a small pond for washing horses (horse watering place). Because the water was so shallow that one could wade in it, the place was soon called the "Wätte" (watering place). However, the whole thing didn't smell very pleasant, which is why the town physician had the Wätte filled in in 1792. Instead, the piglet market was held here on Tuesdays until the 1960s (!). During the redesign of the square (1990), this tradition was remembered, and the bronze pig trader ("Saubarthel") emerged from a design competition. ... At Wätteplatz you will find the former horse trough, which later became the piglet market.

Quiet connecting road between Halbertshofen and Neuburg an der Kammel. Good asphalt. Do not use the bike path, which is not mandatory and in poor condition.

A nice, quiet local road between Billenhausen via Erisweiler to Halbertshofen. Well paved.

Roads (some of them agricultural tracks) between Neuburg an der Kammel and Unterrohr, part of the Kammel Cycle Path. Mostly well-paved. Suitable for road bikes.
