The town center of Ratzeburg is completely surrounded by three lakes... there is plenty of nature to discover on all sides.

Remarkable city location on the lake with many sights and good infrastructure.

The Ratzeburg Cathedral (also: Cathedral of St. Mary and St. John the Evangelist) is an outstanding example of Romanesque brick architecture in Northern Germany.

The Ratzeburg Cathedral stands in an elevated position on the western shore of the Domsee and can be seen from all directions, even from a distance. Here, directly opposite the eastern shore of the Domsee, you have some of the best views of the cathedral across the lake.

Seedorf Castle is a great photo opportunity. It's privately owned, and therefore neither tours nor entry to the entire complex are permitted. It's a shame, but also understandable.

A trip to Ratzeburg is definitely worth it. History in the old town and nature by the lake.
