After struggling up from the slate caves – a steep path, and extremely slippery in autumn due to the damp leaves – you've earned a breather here. We sat in the autumn sunshine and enjoyed the view of the Rhine Valley.

A wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Rhine Valley and the villages and castles beyond. Approximately 100 meters before the rest area, there is a large information panel explaining the view.

It is said to be one of the oldest churches in the Hunsrück region, first mentioned in a document by Pope Paschal II in 1109. It is beautifully situated on the edge of the forest. Unfortunately, it can only be visited on Sundays during the summer months.

An impressive natural monument. If you hike the trail in autumn or winter, the next 500 meters to the Rheinblick shelter are very difficult. The path leads steeply uphill to the right of the cave. The rocks are completely covered in leaves, so you have to clear them step by step with one foot to see where you're placing your next foot. The safety rope is of very limited help in this situation. So climb very slowly and carefully, and use your trekking poles judiciously. At the Rheinblick shelter, you can then take a breather.

A very well-maintained, beautiful tour. The starting gate is right next to the parking lot. There are plenty of single trails, great views, and plenty of benches. Still a top tour.
