The Wendebach has its source near Bremke on the border with Thuringia and flows into the Leine south of Niedernjesa. You can follow most of the course. From Bremke, a cycle path runs along the stream. The reservoir itself is approved as a bathing lake. It is a DLRG location and a kiosk on site (only on warm days). Unfortunately, the lake is very heavily contaminated with algae due to the fertilizer from the surrounding fields.

The Wendebach reservoir is a natural lake that was created in 1973 by artificial damming for flood protection. The area is used as a recreation area. The bathing area has a bathing jetty and a non-swimmer area, which is looked after by the DLRG.

The path around the Kiessee is beautiful and easy to walk on. There were a lot of people out and about on Sunday afternoon.
