The Lübben Castle looks back on an eventful history, which is actually not a castle at all. It owes its current appearance with the impressive Renaissance gable to Duke Christian I of Saxe-Merseburg, who completed the reconstruction of the palace after it was destroyed in the war in 1682. After extensive reconstruction measures, it now houses the city and regional museum, the castle restaurant and the city library in the adjacent stables.
