To mark its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Elsterschloss-Gymnasium Support Association commissioned the creation and installation of an art installation on the grounds of the present-day Elsterschloss-Gymnasium. As part of the "Art at the Castle" project, a bronze casting model of Elsterschloss Elsterwerda was created. The Saxon post milestone stands near the Protestant town church of St. Catherine on the main street. This distance marker, dating from 1738, is considered an important piece of cultural heritage and a landmark that shapes the townscape. In addition to a museum, Doberlug Castle also houses the nature park center of the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park. The interactive exhibition "erlebnisREICH Naturpark" invites you to search for clues in an abstract landscape in the rooms of the former Cistercian abbey. In order to uncover the secrets of change, clues are collected in twelve themed trails. In the outdoor area of the castle, young guests can discover the landscapes and animals of the nature park on a playground.
