There it stands, quite inconspicuous and small, the statue of Poseidon.

There is a retractable bridge at each end of the canal. The more famous and newer one is located in Isthmia; the other connects Corinth with Loutraki and is in poor condition. Cycling across it should be avoided, and when pushing a bicycle, care should be taken to prevent the thin tires from getting caught between the wooden planks.

This bike path along the water appears to be new. Unfortunately, it's only a few hundred meters long and ends abruptly as a wide sidewalk for just over 100 meters, where it completely terminates.

The bridge submerges when ships and boats pass.

@Panos, as someone who had that kind of accident at the sister bridge on the west side, i strongly recommend everybody to unmount their bike and walk it across.

Warning! DO NOT try to cross the bridge on a road bike!!! The gaps among the wood slabs are wide enough for a road wheel to fall through. A friend of mine had a nasty accident. Go for a hike-a-bike.

The Corinth Canal is so impressive with its narrow passage and steep slopes. You can take good photos from the bridge. The new visitor center has information in various languages. Bungee jumps are also possible from the bridge.
