Absolutely top-notch beach. Truly stunningly beautiful.

A lovely little church on the E4 long-distance hiking trail. Seating areas all around for a pleasant break and a wonderful view.

A relaxed journey is possible from Paleochora by boat. From midday onwards it gets very busy even in the low season.

A lot has changed since our last visit in 2013 - all for the worse. The impressive pink deposits are at most 10% of what they were in 2013, but there are 10 times more people there. This beach is also going the way of all tourists - hotspots, Instagram followers on every corner, mass operations and rip-offs - a shame, but probably nothing can be done about it.

Unfortunately, the pink deposits can only be seen in a few places.

It's worth taking a 20-minute walk from Elfonissi Beach to visit more secluded beaches

Top. Considered to be the dream beach of Crete. The journey from Rethymno is quite long - no motorway, but mountain roads. But, as the saying goes: the journey is the destination. Once you arrive, you shouldn't be disappointed, even in the off-season you are by no means alone there - the beach is too well known. But it is beautiful there - Caribbean feeling on Crete! Crystal clear water and reddish shell deposits - but only in a few places, what a pity.
