Baldegg Monastery has a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Originally the ancestral seat of the noble family of Baldegg, it later developed into a monastery. In the 19th century, it was used by the Baldegg Sisters as an educational institution and place of nursing. In the 1960s, the monastery was modernized with a new building designed by architect Marcel Breuer, which remains a defining feature to this day.
