In this refuge you can find shelter when it rains or take a break on the benches in front of the refuge. In front of the refuge you will also find the beautiful Pfaffenbrunnen fountain.

At this point I would like to quickly say something about the source (whereby it corresponds to the art of poetry / if this 'source' is a 'fountain'): To quote the incomparable humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909 – 1979), who was known to a wide audience for his wordplay and “another poem,” with a short quatrain: "There's certainly a lot of beauty in it, on the element, the wet. Because you can drink the water. But you can leave it alone." (H.Erhardt)

GPS: Hiking car park Schwarzweiher, Untere Eselsmühle 2, 67677 Enkenbach-Alsenborn Not only does the nature reserve around the numerous Schwarzweiher begin here, but also the small, barrier-free "Sun Trail" on the Schwarzweiher.

Very rustic and with Tyrolean cosiness - both in the interior and exterior as well as on the menu. Note opening times! "In the 1970s, the" Fischerhütte "was built from an old tool shed on the banks of the Krugwoog. Source: Information board about the "Schwarzweiher"

These numerous ponds are either leased by the Enkenbach fishing club or belong to the sport fishermen Kaiserslautern or the local community of Enkenbach. The focus here is on nature conservation (no bathing ponds!). "Today the ponds are classified as natural monuments, but in reality they are also industrial monuments. They were laid out in 1809 by the industrialist Baron von Gienanth. At that time, the water power of the Alsenz still played a very important role. The Gienanths operated about 12 km downstream in Schweisweiler an iron hammer mill. The building still exists today and is now used as a community center. The Schwarzweiher, along with other ponds in the upper reaches, were buffer storage tanks from which water was fed into the Alsenz when it was dry to operate the iron hammers.
