The (Great) Kalmit is 672.6 m above sea level. NHN height the highest mountain in the Palatinate Forest and after the Donnersberg the second highest peak in the Palatinate region.

The highest mountain in the Palatinate Forest is of course a must for every hiker. Upstairs there is a viewing terrace with benches and tables.

Great cabin! Large outdoor area with plenty of seating and playground, good organization (short waits despite lunch rush hour), varied menu beyond the 'usual' hut food and reasonable prices.

On Thursdays there are steamed noodles with potato soup

Great PWV hut with huge sun terrace for relaxing and short brekes. The hospitality is always top. The cake 🍰 is always a highlight whether biking or hiking 🥾

Nice view - and good refreshments in the Ludwigshafener hut. At my stop today was the announcement made that the toilet is locked for 10 minutes, because the pump which pumped water from Maikammer high on the Kalmit was a bit overloaded and it takes a while until the water tank was refilled. Was also good going on today.
