We were lucky enough to spend time there today.

This artwork, entitled "To See Beyond," is part of the "St. Martin Art Trail" and dates from 2023. "London-based artist Tim Norris draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and, wherever possible, uses local natural materials in combination with constructed elements. As a harmonious symbiosis of landscape and art, the work invites visitors to enjoy the expansive view across the Rhine plain. It consists of an inner layer of stretched canvas, which offers protection and shade to the seated figure, while the outer layer of local vine tendrils alludes to the surrounding wine region. 'To See Beyond' translates to 'to see beyond.' We can interpret this as the view across the Rhine plain or, philosophically, as the perspective from the present into the future." Grape Roundabout – Asselheim/Grünstadt 🚴‍♂️ The Asselheim thoroughfare is circling again as we drive past... The symbolic traffic roundabout is located on Weinstraße and points to the town's importance for winemaking. The first thing that catches the eye about this symbolic art is a large, wooden A. This is meant to symbolize the town of Asselheim itself. Hanging from this A is a metal grape, representing Asselheim as a wine-growing region. Only at second glance is it apparent that water is dripping over this grape. This process symbolizes how wine is made from the grapes. Red wine, in particular, is produced in large quantities in Asselheim, as the area around the town is often referred to as the Tuscany of Germany. Protestant St. Stephen's Church + Memorial - Albsheim an der Eis 🚴‍♂️ The church, built around 1200, with its striking tower and soldiers' memorial, cannot be overlooked. The building, including its nave, was rebuilt into its current form around 1515. Interesting fact: The church houses one of the oldest original organs in the Palatinate, dating from 1730. ------------------------------------------------ The war memorial directly in front of the church, dating from around 1930, is a larger-than-life sandstone German soldier on a cubic base. It commemorates the fallen and missing German soldiers of the First World War of 1914/18 with inscriptions of their names.

Very beautiful chapel

A beautiful, large lavender field that smells wonderful even from afar. A wonderful experience from June to August. Amazing colors!
