I fell in love with the “Schänzle”, as people here call the Gasthaus zur Schwedenschanze, at first sight. It's a mountain inn like you rarely find. The restaurant is cosy and the view outside is fantastic.

A nice place to rest A stop is worthwhile! Very nice service! The climb up the tower is worth it! The ascent for adults costs 1€ and children 50 cents!

Unattended refuge with a lounge with tables and benches. Via stairs to the bare attic where you can sleep. There is a spring to the west of the Farrenkopf, which is signposted for coming from both the north and south.

It's a steep ascent from Hausach to the Farrenkopf, but the Hasemannhütte has everything a tired hiker's heart desires. It was just too early on the track so we kept running

So don't go there Monday and Tuesday. The tower and restaurant are not open then. At the moment a bit limited due to Corona, but it's okay again.

When the tower is open again you have a great 360 degree panoramic view of the Rhine Valley, over the Black Forest to the Vosges, as well as a great view of the Alps with good visibility
