Today, after work, I spontaneously decided to take a detour to Großschwabhausen. This walk had been on my to-do list for a long time. I've already seen the snowflake forest in Tal-Holz, near Milda, but the Großschwabhausen Hain is truly a sensation! It's so amazing, I never would have imagined it! The entire forest is covered in snowflakes, everything is white! And if it isn't exactly white, then it's purple from the liverworts, which are already in bloom. Here and there, a woodpecker tapped, the chaffinches chirped, the tits sang their spring song! It couldn't be more idyllic. There's a parking lot right nearby! You can also take the train directly to the forest. The forest is very close to the train station.

Wasserburg chapel village Adelsburg - robber's nest - official residence It was pledged by impoverished lords of the castle, for the city of Erfurt it was an important part of its castle policy, for a robber baron it was a safe hiding place and the Saxons used it as a judiciary and rent office. The history of the moated castle of Kapellendorf is as exciting as it is changeable. In the 14th century, the castle got its shape with a ring wall, moat and medieval residential tower. A first church existed at this point as early as around 800. She coined the name of the place: chapel village. Founded as an aristocratic church, the church was donated to the imperial monastery in Fulda in the early days. In the 12th century, the parish church was a fiefdom of the Burgraves of Kirchberg, who founded a Cistercian monastery here in 1235. The nuns' convent existed for three centuries. Since 1527, after the monastery was dissolved in the course of the Reformation, the chapel village church has once again served solely as a parish church. Numerous surviving grave monuments inside testify to its great importance as a burial and memorial site in the late Middle Ages and early modern times.
