Originally a fortified moated castle, of which the surrounding walls and a tower from 1574 still exist. The castle that now stands was given a baroque makeover from 1709, of which parts of the old complex are still preserved in the north wing. The south wing was built from 1719. Nice shady rest area with benches in front of the castle backdrop. You have a great view over the lake and there is an inn right next door.

Wiessenstein Castle in Pommersfelden was built between 1711 and 1718 under Lothar Franz von Schönborn, the Bamberg Prince-Bishop and Elector of Mainz in Pommersfelden near Bamberg as a private summer residence. It is regarded as the founding building of the Franconian Baroque and is still owned by the Schönborn family. A visit is absolutely worthwhile. Attention: Hourly guided tours! There is a good cafe nearby.

The privy councilor Wolf Christoph von Mohrenfels bought the "Reichs-Freye-Ritterguth Hemhofen" from Baron von Töstelberg in 1722 and completed the construction of the baroque palace complex in 1724. Since that time, the noble family of Winkler von Mohrenfels has been significantly involved in the history of Hemhofen. Under Georg Christoph (1709-1748), the palace and its outbuildings developed into a handsome baroque complex that was in use for centuries.
