The rocks look gigantic, unfortunately we could only see them with clouds.

This is truly a stunning view of the Ramsau Dolomites. They are rightly called the "Betchtesgadener 3 Zinnen"

Warning: Extremely steep. I should have read the comments here. It's almost impossible to ride up here on a road bike from the German side when the ground is wet. Extremely beautiful, but even as a climb fan, I probably won't be back.

Hirschbichl is a particular challenge with a racing bike, around 600m with an average gradient of 26%! Push if necessary, because you will be treated to a fabulous idyll in the Hirschbichl National Park.

The Hirschbichl pass lies at an altitude of 1,183 meters. From Weißbach, you have to climb around 500 meters in altitude. Anyone who makes it here without a motor can be truly proud.

As soon as you see the "Three Peaks of the Berchtesgaden Alps", you are immediately cast under their spell. You feel a little reminded of South Tyrol. The view of the Ramsau Dolomites is truly a dream.

The climb is challenging, but if you manage it and treat yourself to a little reward, you can do it again 😉

The border between Germany and Austria is in the town of Hirschbichl. Shortly afterwards you reach the Hirschbichl pass.

It is located between the Salzburger Hochthron (1,853 m above sea level) in the north and the Raucheck (1,891 m above sea level) in the south at an altitude of 1,671 m above sea level. A. right on the border between Austria and Germany. Crossing the Untersberg from the Berchtesgadener to the Salzburger Hochthron is one of the most beautiful tours in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The varied path leads over the extensive high plateau with its huge sinkholes - an extraordinary landscape that is second to none.

The crossing at the Hirschbichl Pass, which by the way is not exactly at the inn, has been known since the 13th century. At that time it was one of the many mule tracks that criss-crossed the Alps. The historic salt trade route led from Berchtesgaden to Pinzgau in Austria via the Hirschbichl. In the course of history, the pass was expanded and fortified militarily. The first license to serve mules and travelers already existed in 1738. In 1805 the guard house was converted into an inn, and it still stands today. The road for the hiking bus ends at the border at Gasthof Hirschbichl. Source: planetoutdoor.de

At the southern end of the Mittagsscharte, a few meters north of the crossroads, directly below the "Steinerner Kaser" stone hut (currently leased from the State Speleology Association in Salzburg) is the entrance to the cave of the same name. The Salzburg ethnographer and historian Franz Valentin Zillner writes about this: ...(The) Mittagsscharte, from which one enters the large cave, the Steinernen Kaser, through which all legends say the entrance to the interior of the mountain is located.. .

The Hirschbichl Pass was used to transport salt to Tyrol from the 13th century. Hirschbichl itself is (unlike stated by Komoot) on the territory of the state of Salzburg. Here are a few houses, an alpine inn and a small chapel.

The pass at 1183m is really not spectacular, as it is surrounded by trees, but from now on it is more comfortable and there are no longer 30% gradients.
