The view from the Zeitberg is breathtaking. Your gaze wanders from the mountains far out into the Alpine foothills. Just a few steps away you can take a break and let yourself be pampered in the Hörnlehütte.

Beautiful hiking trails lead here and you have a good view - sometimes of the mountains, sometimes towards Staffelsee and Murnau. Highly recommended!

The route starts at the parking lot in front of the Laberbahn and ends there again. The route is easily doable, but it should be dry and not have rained in the previous days. Otherwise the descent becomes a nightmare, very slippery and narrow and steep path. About 45 minutes from the summit down, then the terrain becomes easy again. Not suitable for children. You should be sure-footed. and free from dizziness. It should also be noted that the path leads through an animal sanctuary and is only open to hikers from the end of April.

There is officially a ban on bikes in the uppermost area of the Großer Aufacker. Uphill you have to push the bike mostly anyway, downhill everyone has to know what they're doing ;-) The uphill is partly on an extremely steep forest path, so there are one or two pushing sections involved. There are great views and deep views and then a sensational switchback trail on the descent (note: there are a lot of hikers, so be considerate!!!). The trail is technically between S2 and S3. Rear wheel offset is required.

The Aufacker is certainly not the absolute highlight of the Ammergau region, but it can be reached by MTB and has some good sight lines.
