This wooden bench and the weather shelter are located in the area of Bernhard's Beech tree on the railway cycle path, not far from the boules court in Wettringen.

This lock was subsequently enlarged as the demand of the textile industry grew and more ships needed to be locked through. It has four lock gates, two that open toward the Vecht River and two that open toward the Ems-Vechte Canal. This was necessary because the water level on both the Ems and the Vecht sometimes increased.
