Instead of a keep, the castle has a double-winged shield wall, the apex of which points toward the rocky massif. A battlement walk runs along the shield wall, which can be accessed via a recently constructed steel staircase. The castle complex is fully accessible and worth a visit. Nice place as an ideal starting point for tours or for a break in between. In summer there is a kiosk directly on the Neckarlauer with seating and a great view of the river and the jetty. Alternatively, you can also go for ice cream at the “Hemp Market”. Beautiful, obvious destinations: Dilsberg, Neckarsteinach, Hirschhorn (with castle), Eberbach or Heidelberg (castle, Philosophenweg, old town).
