Thurant Castle with its two towers is unmistakable

The castle was built at the beginning of the 12th century on Celtic fortifications. It was first mentioned in 1195, when the then lord of the castle granted it as a fief to the Archbishop of Trier. The castle is visible from afar.

The castle ruins are worth seeing, but the town centre is also worth seeing.

🏰Eltz Castle is a hilltop castle from the 12th century. It is located at 129 m above sea level in the Elz valley🌊. With its eight residential towers up to 35 meters high, its bay windows, roofs, half-timbering and spires, it is the epitome of a knight's castle for the spontaneous observer.⚔️ It sits majestically in a side valley of the Moselle near Mayen. This imposing sight even adorned the 500 DM note for several decades.

Eltz Castle is located at a height of 129 meters as a hilltop castle on a rocky spur in the Elz Valley. It was built around 1157.

A fairytale castle high above the Moselle. Around every corner you discover something beautiful. The entrance fee is very humane, as is the food and drink available at the kiosk. Everywhere beautiful seating areas that invite you to linger. You can drive your car straight to the parking lot or you can hike up the path from Alken past the white cross

The view over Alken to Thurant Castle and the Moselle is simply great. The castle is also a good starting point for longer tours.
