Unfortunately, the passing hiker / walker can no longer expect a place to stop for a break at this historic mill in the valley of the Ehrbach.

A lovely place to linger and, in the past, to stop for a drink. Unfortunately, the mill is now closed and the mill wheel is no longer in use because Aunt Gertrud died. God rest her soul. Hopefully she is in a better world now...

Several hiking trails meet at this oak tree. That's why a hut was built here.

It's a shame that the restaurant is closed. It was always a nice opportunity to have a cheap drink after the gorge. I missed it yesterday. Unfortunately, the mill ditch to the mill wheel was also closed. I always liked to turn the mill wheel for a short time.

The refuge is located on a small hill directly on the Vierseenblick path and only a few hundred meters away from the Köhlerhütte.

Next to the stately Hedwig's oak tree there is a beautiful shelter on the side of the path.

The Forsthaus Kühkopf was built in 1845 and, with its rustic flair, has served many visitors as a resting place in the Koblenz city forest for over 170 years. With its nostalgic ambience, it exudes the charm of the good old days. Here to the Forsthaus Kühkopf and the opening times: https://www.forsthaus-kuehkopf.de

Next to a shelter stands the angel oak. According to the information board, the composer Engelbert Humperdinck (*1854, †1921) often traveled here to find inspiration for his pieces. Humperdinck became famous through his fairy tale opera "Hansel and Gretel" and worked as an editor for the music publisher Schott in Mainz.

The restaurant is very cozy and inviting with absolutely nice hosts. In sunny weather, the pretty beer garden is also inviting.

Angel oak The angel oak is named after Engelbert Humperdinck (1854 - 1921). The composer of the fairy tale operas "Hansel and Gretel" and "Königskinder" as well as countless children's songs bought the "Humperdinck-Schlösschen" in Boppard in 1897. During long walks in the forest, he was repeatedly inspired by nature for his melodies and wrote down in a pocket music book the music that came to him in the loneliness of the woods. Humperdinck was dubbed a "poetic clay poet of the German forest" by a chronicler. In honor of Engelbert Humperdinck's wife Hedwig, the oak at the neighboring resting place was named "Hedwigseiche". Apparently a tent camp had recently taken place here. The hut is equipped with sanitary facilities. There is electricity connection. A refrigerator with chilled drinks was still in use. (Obviously from the camp and not for hikers!) My impression was that this infrastructure is primarily provided for activities in consultation with the community ..... I can of course be wrong with this assumption ... From here the route becomes interesting and shows why a long journey is worthwhile!

The name Stierwiese is derived from the intended purpose. The meadow owned by the community was used until the 1960s by the keeper of the community bull in Oppenhausen, who harvested green forage and hay here in equal measure. Since 1986 the area has been owned by the city of Boppard and the Oppenhausen-Herschwiesen workers' welfare organization for the implementation of a children's tent camp for children between the ages of 8 and 14 years. The Stierwiese is located in the hallway name Gallahaan and since 2004 SV Eintracht Oppenhausen has organized the open-air event "Gallahaan-Rock" every August.

Between the Allerheiligenberg car park and the refuge at the end of the Ruppertsklamm there is a spot from which you can enjoy a wonderful view not only of the Lahn, the Hohenrhein Bridge and Friedland, but also of the Allerheiligen chapel, Lahneck Castle and the Taunus. Here a prominent slender rock rises into the sky, which has always been called Uhu-Lay. This view has been immortalized on many postcards. From here, a wide hiking trail leads back in the direction of "Allerheiligenberg", past the "Uhuley" vantage point with a fabulous panoramic view of the Lahn Valley.
