This is a super nice place, a bit busy these days, but it has food and drink facilities, camping, parking. It is basically the hub for activities in Parkmill. If you are walking from here there is a great cafe to buy sandwiches from with olive bread.

Llanmadoc Hill has fine views across towards Rhossili Down and nearby Harding's Down. With a trig point, a cairn, and an orientation table, it has a nice broad summit, which has few access paths to the the top. At 186 metres high, it is also a UK-designated P100 hill with 105 metres of prominence.

A small, varied museum of rural life. Perhaps more useful for Komooters, there is a small shop selling food and drinks, and a bicycle shop. Shepherd's cafe is right next door too.

Worth leaving Sustrans Route 4 to take a look at the castle. Only a short diversion

Out at the rugged end of Whiteford sands is Whiteford Point Lighthouse (also referred to as Whitford Point). It was built in 1865 to mark Whitford Point shoals, in the Burry estuary. This is a great place for a run with a nice flat but sandy sock filled route with great sea views.

The summit of Llanmadoc Hill is only 186m high but it makes for a really good run out from Llanmadoc. The views are pretty special on a sky blue day. The summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point.

The memorial at the Castle celebrates Gwenllian, one of Wales's greatest heroines. In 1136 she led a Welsh army against Marcher lord Maurice de Londres. The battle took place nearby and despite her bravery Gwenllian was captured and beheaded. Gwenllian was a princess by birth and marriage. Her husband, Gruffudd ap Rhys, was prince of Deheubarth; her father, Gruffudd ap Cynan, Prince of Gwynedd. King Henry I died in 1135. With no heir, England was left in turmoil. Sensing the chance to win back lands, the Welsh launched a campaign against Anglo Norman rule. Gruffudd travelled to Gwynedd to gather support. With her husband away, Gwenllian led her doomed army against a Norman counter attack. Gwenllian and Gruffudd's greatest legacy was their youngest son, The Lord Rhys, who rose to become the most important Welsh ruler of the time.
