This path leads to / from the highest point in the region - the highest. Can be driven in both directions. I personally recommend it more as a "descent" ;-), coming from the direction of Holzappel. From there the ascent is far less arduous and the path is in better shape.

At 545 m, the highest point in the Montabaurer Höhe. The name comes from an optical signaling system that French soldiers built up there in 1809. Edit 08/22: A place of worship with a cross and benches has been set up nearby. Nice view from there.

The tower offers a great view of Montabaur and the castle Schloss. The Köppel is definitely worth a visit, not only because of the economy. Exploring on foot is rather boring as there are mainly forest roads. It is much more exciting to ride the bike 🚲.

The observation tower Helleberg is always open and can be climbed. The climb is worth it: from the top you have a great panoramic view - of course, depending on the weather. You can start from Düringen and descend on the paved road down - with me, the way of Düringen was well navigable, but is also dependent on the season and weather.
