A 708m high mountain in the Vale of Eden and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a great walk via the ridgeline over Swarth Fell from Garsdale. It's named after the wild boar that used to roam this area.
Legendary fellwalker Alfred Wainwright said he could climb Great Shunner “nonstop despite being senile and getting as fat as a pig”. When hiking here, you'll understand the sentiment. It feels like walking along the backbone of England.
One of the lesser known climbs in the Yorkshire Dales, Oxnop Scar is a breathtaking stretch of singletrack road from the Swale Valley (Swaledale) up between the peaks of The Fleak to the east and Whitfield Fell to the west.
