A chessboard stone can be seen at the southeast corner – directly behind the right cast iron cross.

This stone village church truly stands out. It's unusually sturdy and so ideally situated in the small village that it offers excellent views from all sides. There are plenty of great photo opportunities!

The church was built as a rectangular fieldstone structure with a western transept tower the width of the nave. The tower likely dates from the 14th century. The church was severely damaged during the Thirty Years' War and was not rebuilt until 1686. Significant restorations took place in 1969/1970 and again in the 1990s, when the roofs were renewed.

From this point, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Unteruckersee, Prenzlau and Röpersdorf.

Among the most important furnishings is a tall, three-tiered carved wooden altar with richly decorated ormolu work, dating from 1625. It originated in Schmölln and was installed in Gerswalde in 1983. The altar depicts scenes of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension, as well as the Evangelists in shell niches.

After a long bike ride, a view of the sunset at the first "tip" of the Unteruckersee, as a reward and welcome at the destination.
